The Vassa Entrance & Rains Robe Offering Ceremony Today we officially reopened the Jefferson Meditation Center and celebrated the beginning of Vassa, the rainy season when monks remain in a single place for three months, taking care to avoid harm to other creatures, to observe their stringent monastic precepts, and to meditate and reflect on the sacred texts of their tradition.
